About Chantaul Smith, LMFT

People come to therapy for a variety of personal reasons and needs. I have had the privilege of working with a range of people with various strongholds (IE. Depression, anxiety, trauma, and substance abuse issues). My passion is working with families/individuals and creating change within that system. I enjoy helping individuals learn to like themselves again, and function better in the world around them.

I graduated from Southern Connecticut State University, and obtained by Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. Before that I was a division 1 athlete at Sacred Heart University in the Women’s Track and Field team. There I learned discipline, team work, and to persevere even when I felt I couldn’t. These experiences have led to me to a career where I find myself still using that team work mentality, to affect change in other’s lives. I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and I strive to create a non-judgmental environment where people can be their true selves. This authenticity will help lay the groundwork down to look at intrinsic issues that trouble one’s self.

I am a person first, and a clinician second. I am caring, nurturing, and strong willed (and I am known to tell unfunny jokes from time to time…sorry about that). I aim to empower others because when you do that, there is no stopping that empowered person.

My goal is to support YOU. In my experience, people have the means to succeed inside them; they just have difficulty accessing their innate potential. Life circumstances, trauma, hard times, can all cloud that potential and create a reality that causes us to accept less than we deserve. My goal is to walk with you, and help you realize that potential.

My goal is to work on your goals. I come from a strength based perspective, although I am comfortable with using many other techniques. I utilize aspects of CBT, EMDR, Solution focused therapy as well as Narrative therapy (as well as many other schools of thought).

Life can dull our shine. Horrible things happen. You don’t have to go this alone. Join me, we can do this together.
